The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Business Architect / Senior Business Analyst to support a major cloud re-architecture and technical debt reduction programme within a complex technology environment.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping future-state business and operational models, helping organisations simplify services, modernise infrastructure and maximise the value of cloud transformation. Working closely with business stakeholders, technical architects, engineers and operational teams, you will bridge the gap between business objectives and technical delivery, ensuring transformation activities deliver measurable business, security and operational benefits.

You’ll take ownership of understanding current-state capabilities, services and processes, identifying opportunities for improvement and translating complex requirements into clear, actionable recommendations. Your work will help inform migration priorities, reduce technical complexity and ensure future-state solutions are aligned with wider organisational goals.

This role would suit someone who combines strong business architecture or senior business analysis expertise with experience in large-scale technology transformation, cloud migration or infrastructure modernisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse and document current-state business capabilities, services, processes and operating models.
• Collaborate with technical architects and engineering teams to define future-state business and operational models.
• Identify business, operational and technical dependencies across multiple programmes, delivery teams and suppliers.
• Elicit, analyse and document business requirements, constraints, risks, assumptions and dependencies.
• Facilitate workshops with business, technical, operational and security stakeholders to establish requirements and agree transformation priorities.
• Support the prioritisation of cloud migration, technical remediation and service simplification activities.
• Develop business cases, options assessments and impact analyses to support informed decision-making.
• Maintain clear traceability between business objectives, requirements, technical deliverables and programme outcomes.
• Assess the impact of proposed changes on business capabilities, services, processes and operating models.
• Support change readiness, stakeholder engagement and adoption activities to enable successful implementation.
• Work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams to ensure transformation decisions deliver sustainable business and operational value.
• Proven experience working as a Business Architect or Senior Business Analyst on large-scale technology transformation programmes.
• Experience supporting cloud migration, infrastructure transformation, platform modernisation or similar complex technology initiatives.
• Strong business capability modelling and business process mapping skills.
• Demonstrable experience developing and documenting target operating models (TOMs).
• Excellent stakeholder management and workshop facilitation skills, including engagement with senior business and technical stakeholders.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and requirements management capabilities.
• Ability to work confidently with enterprise or technical architects, engineers and operational teams to translate business needs into practical solutions.
• Experience managing requirements, dependencies and priorities across multiple delivery teams.
• The ability to communicate complex information clearly and produce high-quality documentation to support strategic and delivery decisions.
• Active SC security clearance.
• BIZBOK certification or experience applying recognised Business Architecture methodologies.
• Experience delivering transformation within UK Government, the public sector or other regulated environments.
• Familiarity with AWS cloud transformation, re-architecture or migration programmes.
• Experience working with architecture repositories, modelling tools or enterprise architecture platforms.
• NPPV3 security clearance.
