This role sits within the Amber for Utilities team, that licenses our technology to energy retailers and utilities worldwide. Amber has cracked something genuinely rare - a technology that benefits consumers, utilities, and the grid all at once. Having built a loyal following in Australia by giving people direct access to wholesale energy prices and automating smart devices to save them money, we’re now taking that model global. This role is critical to build the team and business in the UK and Europe more broadly. The foundations have been laid, but this role will allow us to scale this part of Amber. Amber for Utilities Europe (A4U) is live, major utility partnerships are underway, and we’ve reached an inflection point. We’re ready to scale - and this role is the signal of that ambition.
As the first dedicated client services and delivery leader in A4U, you’ll be stepping into a business that has proven its model and now needs the operational leadership to take it to the next level. The European delivery team currently reports directly to the co-CEO (based in Australia); you’ll be the person who takes that baton, builds the function, and frees the business to grow. Reporting to the European General Manager (soon to be hired) and working in close partnership with the European VP, Business Development, you’ll impact how Amber’s technology gets implemented with utility partners across Europe - turning signed partnerships into live, thriving products that consumers love. You will place an emphasis on outstanding client relationships and intimate product knowledge. This is a defining leadership opportunity at a company that is reshaping how energy works for millions of people, and as the first role of its kind at Amber, it’s yours to shape and own.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the successful and repeatable delivery of Amber's technology integration and launch with major utility partners.
- Build, scale and lead a high-performing, geographically dispersed team of product managers, designers and operations, working closely with an Engineering Manager to align delivery and technical execution across European markets.
- Facilitate positive client relationships with major utilities from end-to-end - from the first implementation conversation through to a thriving, self-sufficient partnership.
- Develop a world-class delivery model and experience for our partners. You’ll have the foundation - now your job is to stress-test it, refine it, and build it into a repeatable engine capable of running multiple concurrent implementations across Europe.
- Partner closely with Amber's Commercial functions, bringing delivery expertise into pre-sales conversations early, to help design partnerships that are both ambitious and achievable.
- Refine the delivery model standards that will underpin the business unit’s next phase of growth.
- Manage distribution partnerships with large energy suppliers, ensuring Amber's technology integrates seamlessly into each utility's world and creates genuine value for their end customers.
- Champion a delivery philosophy - to build capable, confident utility partners who advocate for Amber's platform from the inside.
- Feed European market intelligence back into Amber's product and engineering teams, ensuring what you learn on the ground shapes what gets built next.
Key Requirements
- You’ve led client services or delivery in a scaling technology business (ideally B2B or B2B2C) and you know what it takes to bring complex, multi-stakeholder partnerships to life.
- You’re comfortable being first into a space and building as you go, and you genuinely enjoy being in the room with senior client stakeholders.
- You’d be one of a small handful of critical leaders in the UK/Europe and so expected to be a true leader for that part of the business.
- The strongest candidates will bring a track record of leading long-cycle B2B or B2B2C technology implementation or service delivery programmes (12+ months), ideally with multiple concurrent clients and cross-border complexity.
- Experience in the energy, utilities, or infrastructure sector, or in a SaaS business that sells into these verticals. You understand how utilities think, move, and make decisions.
- Proven leadership of scaling European teams, with the ability to build delivery culture and rigour across geographies.
- Comfort operating across the commercial spectrum - from presales and scoping through to ongoing partnership governance.
- A genuine coaching instinct. You measure success not by how needed you are, but by how capable your clients become, and by the engagement and growth of your team.
- The resilience and self-sufficiency that comes from having operated as a senior leader in a high-growth, lean environment - where you’ve had to build the plane while flying it.
- Familiarity with B2B2C models and the dynamics of selling through - not to - major utilities or similar industry sectors is a meaningful advantage.
Benefits
- We’re committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace and a great culture of people who love coming to work to build a better world.
- Be part of a growing technology start-up that will shape the future of household renewable energy use.
- You’d be a part of a growing team of over 200 people with expertise across energy, technology, marketing, and operations.
- Flexible working hours & remote working.
- Competitive salary within your local market.
- Employee Share Options Plan.
- Employment and leave entitlements as per your local country.
- An external Employee Assistance Plan for mental health support.
- Annual Learning & Development budget to support your personal growth.
- Annual company conference in Melbourne, Australia, flights & accommodation paid for.
How You Work
You will be working predominantly remotely within a high-trust environment where transparency and accountability are foundational to our engineering culture. Amber's flexible approach allows you to shape your schedule. We have core collaboration hours, 7am - 12pm London time. This overlap enables meaningful collaboration with your Australian colleagues. You may be required to work within the core hours from time to time. Outside of these core hours, we trust you to manage your time effectively. We focus on outcomes and impact rather than hours logged, but we do expect consistent communication and reliable delivery on commitments. Regular check-ins and transparent progress updates are part of how we maintain this balance of freedom and responsibility.
Our headquarters is located in Melbourne, Australia, with a second co-working office in Sydney, Australia. We’ve established a UK co-working hub that you’ll visit during your first 2 weeks of onboarding and approximately every 2 months thereafter for team collaboration. You will have the opportunity to be flown out to Australia post your probationary period for 2 weeks to meet with the team face-to-face & to collaborate locally with the Australian engineering team (this would be your final part of onboarding). We also have AmberCon every year, this is a big team calendar event and we will fly you to Melbourne to be there with the rest of the team. We will always cover flights, accommodation and other travel costs as part of our travel policies.
How to Apply
Please include your resume. Our hiring process will be as below:
- A screening interview with our talent team.
- A take-home case study/assignment/tech challenge.
- A follow up interview to discuss the case study and probe further on your experience.

- A final conversation with 1-2 Executives.
£110,000 - £150,000 a year. This role will also be eligible for a performance bonus. All roles at Amber include employee stock options. This is a full-time role to be based ideally from the UK/Ireland/Germany but we are also open to considering the right candidate anywhere within Europe. We are also open to working 4 days a week, if that’s what you are looking for. We do have a co-working space in London where we work flexibly between the office and home. If this kind of work gets you excited, we’d love to hear from you! Even if you don’t meet 100% of the requirements listed above, we still encourage you to apply. We’re open to all backgrounds and encourage people from underrepresented groups to apply. We never discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, or disability status.
