We deliver accurate and actionable information, intelligence, analysis and evidence to support our clients’ strategic decision-making in commercial, investment, dispute and crisis situations. We maintain extensive, long-standing networks, experience and country knowledge across Africa which enable us to deliver real insight and value to our clients.
Due to a period of rapid growth, we are looking to add at least one Junior Associate to our London-based team. This entry-level position will focus on supporting our due diligence, political risk, and investigative projects with open-source research and analysis. As a Junior Associate, you will be keeping abreast with the latest developments facing business and politics in Africa and using advanced open-source research tools and techniques to contribute to bespoke client reports and briefings. The team is usually based in our Blackfriars office at least three days per week.
Duties and Responsibilities- Utilise a wide variety of open-source tools and techniques to conduct research on individuals and corporate entities, and to monitor issues across the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) region. This will support political risk as well as asset tracing, due diligence and litigation support cases.
- Prepare concise, high quality written reports for external clients and, where necessary, participate in verbal briefings to Amber case managers as well as external clients and contacts.
- Support Amber’s business development and business growth initiatives.
- Attend conferences, seminars, and events in London and abroad.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken) is essential for this position. Proficiency in other languages (particularly Arabic) is preferred but not required.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent level of work/on the ground experience in a relevant field.
- Professional experience in political risk analysis, business intelligence, journalism, law enforcement, investigations or a related field is desirable but not required. (This is an entry level role.)
- A curious, analytical, and investigative mindset, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where managing multiple deadlines is the norm.
- A proven knowledge or interest in Africa. Any experience living or working on the continent is a plus.
- Excellent research, analytical, writing, and verbal presentation skills.
- Proficiency in IT suites (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Any experience with corporate databases and online investigative tools is desirable but not required.
