The Deputy Chief LX is a senior member of the Technical Team within the Manchester Palace Theatre. Your line manager is the Chief Electrician, and you are required to deputise for the Chief LX and manage a pool of casual technicians. You will work closely with the full-time technical team and other Heads of Department across both venues. The role will be based at the Palace Theatre. Under the Chief LX, you will have responsibility for leading the LX team of the venue, and you will assist the Technical Manager and the Chief LX in managing the technical operations of the venue, working closely with the Technical HODs. On occasion, you will be required to work at the Opera House (sister theatre) dependent on the requirements of the programme.

As a senior member of the Department, you will assist the Technical Manager in the implementation, monitoring, and cultural approach to workplace safety and compliance across the technical operations of the venue, ensuring visiting productions, contractors, and visitors are aware of and in compliance with ATG Entertainment's policies and procedures. You will support the Chief LX on the maintenance of the venue's electrical systems and equipment and liaise with visiting productions regarding all electrical and sound requirements, providing the highest standards of customer experience for our guests.

Key Responsibilities
  • To deputise for the Chief Electrician in their absence.
  • Ensure the smooth running of fit ups, load outs and shows, in line with health and safety legislation and the requirements of the visiting company.
  • Ensure the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of all electrical equipment located within the venue.
  • Ensure the venue electrical systems are maintained and safe to use with any faults being dealt with promptly.
  • Service, maintain and install electrical materials/equipment in line with the most current Institute of Electrical Engineers Regulations.
  • Monitor the performance of outside contractors where appropriate, ensuring that all work is carried out to the highest possible standards and in line with Health and Safety regulations.
