Director for Autistic Survivors CIC — Strategy & Funding in Sheffield

We're seeking new Board members with experience in areas such as Strategy Development, Income Generation, and Events. Under the protected characteristics of the Equality Act 2010, preference will be given to applicants who are autistic / with (an)other protected characteristic.

As a director, you will be able to ensure that our Board progresses into our third year and beyond with greater confidence across all areas of our work. This year, we are hoping to achieve improved development of our website and also to develop our organisational vision as we see all our funding streams progress. This includes our training, new and existing projects, webinars, and consultancies.

We are anticipating that our directors will input into all areas, and specifically those which reflect their focus of knowledge and expertise. Our work is essential as many autistic survivors of sexual violence find services inaccessible or non-existent. Our mission is to respond to our beneficiaries and collaborate with much-needed projects with communities and training for services, and your role would be integral to informing this.

In addition, our services are commissioned as consultants and we provide monthly webinars. So there is plenty where you can become involved as a new director.

What are we looking for? We are particularly looking for directors for our CIC with lived experience. This is critical as the prevalence of sexual violence and related abuse among autistic individuals is shockingly high, reflecting the fact that our needs are completely misunderstood. For this reason, someone with an understanding of this is essential.

Your skills and enthusiasm will support us in addressing survivors' needs and ensuring that their voices are heard. Your creative input and managerial skills will facilitate unique recovery journeys for our beneficiaries and support awareness-raising among our stakeholders. Furthermore, your knowledge will contribute towards the strengthening of a key skill area in our Board.

Important too, is someone who is not afraid to speak out, to champion the cause of others who cannot disclose their experiences, and who is confident that, in working alongside others, there is opportunity to make space for belief and safety. Your input on our Board is an essential role, so if you are solution-focused, enjoy working in a variety of ways, or with detailed attention to a specific area, this could be the role for you.

What will you be doing? As a Director, you will play a key role in supporting the development of an essential autistic survivor led CIC aimed at supporting the needs of autistic survivors of sexual violence and related abuse. Our third year is witnessing the progress of our training and projects, and we need to oversee careful management of funding and the development of future bids.

For this reason, expertise in project / events management will be invaluable, and this would be enjoyable for someone with a creative flair. Applicants with expertise in and knowledge of the digital environment would also be welcome. If you are confident about the workings of a CIC and think you could contribute to our growth over the next few years, supporting and advising on the development of all of our funding streams, then this role could be for you.
