A well-established civil engineering and groundworks contractor in the North West is seeking a Trainee Quantity Surveyor to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start a career in quantity surveying and grow within a reputable civil engineering company.

Role Responsibilities

  • To support the Quantity Surveying team in the commercial management of construction projects, assisting in cost control, procurement, valuations, and reporting.
  • Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, budgets, and tender documentation.
  • Support the procurement of subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Help in valuing completed work and arranging payments.
  • Assist in preparing interim valuations and final accounts.
  • Monitor project costs and support the cost reporting process.
  • Help in the management of variations and change orders.
  • Attend site meetings and liaise with project teams and clients.
  • Ensure compliance with contract terms and company procedures.
  • Maintain proper documentation and records for commercial activities.

Requirements

  • Good numeracy, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Willingness to learn and work on construction sites as required.
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Interest in construction or civil engineering, with a desire to pursue a career in quantity surveying.
  • Previous work experience or internship in the construction industry.
