AMB Recruitment are working with a specialist fire suppression business that operates across the UK and Europe, delivering complex fire alarm and life safety solutions on high-value, critical environments, including data centres. Due to continued growth, they’re now looking to bring in a Fire Alarm Design Engineer to strengthen the technical side of the team. This role sits across tender and project stages, focusing on compliant system design.

The Role

This is a technically led position where you’ll be responsible for the design, coordination and technical compliance of fire alarm systems. You’ll work closely with internal teams, using CRM and design software to ensure the correct equipment and solutions are specified in line with relevant standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce compliant fire alarm system designs at tender and project stage.
  • Ensure correct equipment is selected and built into quotations via CRM systems.
  • Coordinate fire alarm designs using AutoCAD and/or Revit alongside other services.
  • Design systems in line with BS5839-1 and relevant UK, EU and NFPA standards.
  • Carry out site visits where required and support as-fitted / handover documentation.
  • Liaise with document control and support third-party audits when needed.
  • Provide technical input and support to internal teams and clients.

Systems Experience

Experience with one or more of the following is required:

  • Honeywell (Gent, Notifier, Xtralis)
  • Kentec (Taktis, Syncro, Sigma)
  • Advanced / FireClass
  • Securiton / Hekatron / Schrack Seconet

About You

  • Strong engineering background within fire detection / fire alarm systems.
  • Proven experience designing fire alarm systems to BS5839-1.
  • Experience working on data centre or similarly complex environments.
  • Confident using AutoCAD and/or Revit for coordinated design.
  • Solid understanding of correct installation methods and system compliance.

Desirable (but not essential)

  • FIA Level 3 Fundamentals Certificate.
  • CSCS or ECS card.
  • Experience supporting audits and regulated environments.
