Precision Engineering for National Defence

Join the UK\’s leading defence company as a CNC Machinist at their Stockport facility, supporting the production of critical components for the defence sector. You ll operate in a high-performance environment using state-of-the-art CNC machines, contributing to a long-term programme of national importance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate CNC turning machines, retrieving programs from the network to machine parts accurately to engineering drawings.

  • Conduct start-of-shift machine inspections and report any faults via maintenance systems.

  • Measure and inspect parts using micrometres, verniers, and other precision tools to ensure all specifications are met.

  • Select the correct tools, equipment, and materials for each job.

  • Maintain accurate records using SAP production systems.

  • Support junior machinists or new starters as required.

  • Comply with all health, safety, and environmental standards.

  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment (5S).

What We re Looking For:

Essential:

  • GCSEs (Grade C or above) in English and Maths (or equivalent).

  • Hands-on experience operating CNC machining centres in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings and technical tolerances.

Desirable:

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Engineering/Machining, HNC/HND, or a time-served apprenticeship.

  • Familiarity with SAP systems and digital production reporting.

Personal Attributes:

  • Proactive and dependable team player.

  • Self-starter who thrives under pressure and meets deadlines.

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
