The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Quantity Surveyor to join a growing commercial team delivering highways and civil engineering projects. This is a hybrid role, combining time working from home, on site, and from the office once established. You will play a key role in managing project costs from early involvement through to final account, ensuring strong commercial performance and cost control throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation, review, and ongoing management of detailed cost estimates and budgets
- End‑to‑end commercial management from enquiry through to final account settlement
- Production and presentation of accurate monthly CVRs to senior management
- Implementation of effective cost control and value‑engineering measures
- Management of contract documentation including bills of quantities and scopes of work
- Review and negotiation of contract terms to ensure compliance and risk mitigation
- Management of applications for payment and responses to support cash flow forecasts
- Professional and timely response to client and stakeholder queries
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors
- Mentoring and supporting junior and intermediate Quantity Surveyors
- Contributing to a collaborative, high‑performing commercial team environment
About You
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying (or a related discipline)
- Proven experience within civil engineering / highways infrastructure
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and commercial processes
- Sound working knowledge of NEC contracts
- Highly analytical with strong attention to detail
- Confident communicator, able to work collaboratively with operational and commercial teams
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant QS / commercial software
- Professional, ethical, and commercially astute
