Role Overview: We are seeking a Cabling Technician to support day-to-day connectivity requests, maintenance work and cabling activities within a Data Centre environment. You will work closely with on-site teams and the client, handling cabling installations, troubleshooting, documentation and hardware assistance. Excellent communication, attention to detail and a proactive approach are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, decommission and manage structured cabling, patching and connectivity.
- Test and troubleshoot cabling using Fluke equipment with certification.
- Assist with hardware installations including switches, cabinets and ongoing maintenance.
- Support third parties and clients, including out-of-hours assistance when required.
- Carry out routine Data Centre maintenance, checks and security audits.
- Manage updates, documentation, ticketing and stock control accurately via platforms such as ServiceNow and Microsoft 365.
- Create/update patching schedules and ensure accurate data entry across portals.
- Monitor access requests and escort contractors on-site as needed.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Previous experience in a similar cabling or data centre role.
- Experience with copper and fibre cabling systems.
- Solid understanding of Data Centre environments, power distribution and cooling.
- Excellent organisation, customer service and communication skills.
- Valid ECS/CSCS card and full driving licence.
- Relevant qualifications e.g. CNCI®, CNIT®, BICSI (or equivalent).
Desirable:
- First Aid certification.
- Awareness of AV, security systems, IoT and networking.
- Understanding of change management processes.
