About the Role
We are looking for experienced Wiremen to support critical substation reinforcement and upgrade works on the National Grid Distribution framework. You will be working on live substation environments, focusing on control and relay panel works.
Key Requirements:
- Ops 1B / Ops 2B authorisation (highly preferred).
- Candidates with alternative valid authorisations (e.g. BESC, National Grid Person) will be considered and can work under supervision.
- Strong proven experience in substation panel wiring – specifically stripping, rebuilding, and wiring of relay panels and control panels.
- LVAC / electrical background with actual substation experience (general electricians without substation panel experience will not be suitable).
- Relevant plant tickets advantageous.
Ideal Candidate:
You must have hands-on experience in operational DNO substations rather than just battery storage or greenfield projects. We need competent wiremen who can deliver high-quality panel work safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities:
- Installation, modification, and refurbishment of relay and control panels in substations.
- Wiring, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Working to strict DNO safety standards and procedures.
- Supporting the wider site team to deliver substation projects.
