We require skilled Mechanical Fitters for substation installation and refurbishment works on the National Grid Distribution (former Western Power) framework. You will be involved in the mechanical installation of equipment in live and new substation environments.
Key Requirements:
- Ops 1B / Ops 2B authorisation (strongly preferred) or National Grid Persons. Candidates with other recognised authorisations can be considered and may work under supervision.
- Significant experience as a Substation Fitter.
- Ability to carry out full mechanical fitting scope (beyond basic lifting and bolting) – including setting, alignment, and complex installations.
- Relevant plant tickets (e.g. Telehandler, etc.) are highly advantageous and will be considered in rate discussions.
Ideal Candidate:
You will have solid DNO / substation mechanical installation experience. Pure battery storage or basic fitting backgrounds are unlikely to be suitable. We need competent fitters who understand the precision and safety requirements of operational substations.
Responsibilities:
- Mechanical installation and fitting of substation equipment.
- Setting, levelling, and alignment of plant and steelwork.

- Supporting Site Managers and the wider delivery team.
