Amazon Web Services (AWS) Professional Services is looking for an experienced and motivated manager to lead, coach, grow, and partner with technically skilled, customer-facing Consultants for the Telecommunications vertical. This role is based in the US supporting our lighthouse Telecommunications customers, including the world's largest mobile network operators, fixed-line carriers, cable and broadband providers, tower companies, and converged communications service providers.
Professional Services (ProServe) engages in a wide variety of projects for customers and partners, providing collective experience from across the AWS customer base to obsessively drive customer success. Our team collaborates across the entire AWS organization to bring access to Product and Service teams, to get the right solution delivered and drive feature innovation based upon customer needs.
As part of the AWS ProServe Telco Solution Delivery team, we take AWS products, 3rd party products, and build solutions for our customers. As a Global Practice Manager for Telecommunications, a well-qualified candidate would have extensive experience in defining, designing, and implementing solutions for network operators, communications service providers, and digital infrastructure companies across domains such as network modernization, BSS/OSS transformation, 5G core and edge deployments, and subscriber experience platforms. Ultimately, you will help us achieve our goal of becoming the market leader and most respected solution provider for cloud-enabled telecommunications workloads.
In this role, you will need to be technically capable and credible in your own right as well as effective in shaping the customer and solutions-focused skills of your team. You must enjoy learning and introducing new technology in order to help colleagues and customers embrace and adopt new technology. Furthermore, thought leadership in terms of looking beyond the technology and considering the value technology creates for our customers, and helping to change how technology is viewed are important aspects of the role. You will help team members ramp up on AWS as well as develop speaking, writing, presentation, and executive as well as telecommunications industry interaction skills.
A strong Telecommunications industry skillset and acumen is a must. We strive to provide perspective guidance to our customers related to their core telecom business workloads including all segments of the Telco industry from network infrastructure modernization, RAN and core network transformation, BSS/OSS migration, subscriber data platforms, and digital channel enablement, to edge computing and IoT connectivity solutions. Past experience related to the telecommunications business will be very helpful for the success of this role.
You will also need to be adept at interacting, communicating, and partnering with other departments within AWS such as our Sales, Account, and Business Development teams, as well as representing your team to executive management and being able to guide AWS Service teams with appropriate roadmap feature set and Marketing teams with appropriate solution messaging related to telecommunications workloads.

- Have a strong understanding of large-scale computing solutions, network transformation programs, business-IT transformations, or relevant consulting experience. The ideal candidate will have past experience working as a technical consultant, architect, or similar role and managing a team of technical consultants or architects within the telecommunications domain.
- You will enjoy keeping your existing technical skills honed and developing new ones, so you can make strong contributions to deep architecture discussions.
- This is a customer-facing role. You will be required to travel to client locations and deliver professional services when needed.
Basic qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Math, or a related field
- Knowledge of compliance and security standards across the enterprise IT landscape
- Knowledge of infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) cloud computing transition challenges
- Experience with consulting practice leadership as manager of managers with team size 50+ and P&L responsibility
- Experience with enterprise architecture including virtualization technologies and distributed architecture
- In depth understanding of Telco industry, AI/ML and Agentic platform architectures is a must
Preferred qualification
- Experience integrating AWS cloud services with on-premise technologies (e.g., Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, HP, SAP)
- Experience with design of modern, scalable delivery models for technology consulting services
- Experience with international sales and delivery work with global F500 enterprise customers and partners
- Experience with vertical industry sales and delivery work of contemporary services and solutions
- Experience building and maintaining C-level client relationships
- Experience managing and delivering large-scale enterprise IT projects
