This apprenticeship focuses on those who have military experience and/or are military spouses/children interested in working in the private sector. This apprenticeship will give you the chance to become a multi‑skilled maintenance technician in electrical and mechanical disciplines. Your role will cover installation, testing, fault finding, and ongoing planned maintenance of complex automated equipment.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Carrying out proactive and preventative maintenance
- Carrying out reactive repairs, and fault diagnosis in a live distribution warehouse

We’re looking for people who stay calm when things don’t go to plan and tackle challenges with a get‑things‑done approach. If you love machines and understand the importance of keeping production lines running smoothly, this could be your opportunity. Throughout the apprenticeship, you will learn fault diagnosis, preventative maintenance, fluid power systems assembly and testing, mechanical device maintenance, electrical equipment wiring and testing, hydraulics, pneumatics, and PLC operations.
Learning & Development
You’ll work towards an Advanced Apprenticeship in Engineering (Mechatronics Maintenance), combining on‑the‑job experience with industry‑recognised study. Your first 12 months will be a full‑time residential programme, with accommodation and travel expenses supported. In later years, you’ll combine work with study for an HNC in Engineering or Mechatronics. You will support our 24/7 operation in shifts covering days, nights, and weekends in patterns that reflect real‑world engineer schedules.
Basic Qualifications
- UK or EU national with right to work in the UK, or non‑UK national with settled status and 3+ years residence prior to commencing (September 2026)
- Legal work status in England for the entire programme (September 2030)
- Resident of the UK for the entire duration
- Not registered for UK government funded courses ending August 2026 or later
- Minimum age 18 before entering an Amazon building (September 2026)
- Minimum of 3 GCSEs at Grades 9–4 / A–C (or equivalent): Maths, English, and a science/technology subject
- Statement of Comparability for overseas qualifications via UK ENIC
- 36‑48 month fixed‑term contract; no existing qualification at same or higher level
- Assumes little or no knowledge/experience of the occupation
Preferred Qualifications
- 5 GCSEs at Grades 9–4 / A–C (or equivalent), including Maths, English, and a science/technology subject
- Achievement or pursuit of a T‑Level in an Engineering subject or ‘A’ Levels with a bias towards science & technology, or studying for such, or similar
