With Ring, you’re always home. Ring is looking for a Hardware Development Engineer who will be a part of our global electrical engineering team, playing a critical role in ensuring the highest product quality standards and driving continuous improvement of products.

Key job responsibilities

  • Keeps in mind what is important when shipping products to customers and has experience through the process from start to finish.
  • Comfortable with proactive outward communication and technical leadership; does not shy away from challenges.
  • Collaborate with the product board design owner to provide the best design of the peripheral function and accessory product.
  • Ensure response and stability of power circuitry under the system operation range and stress conditions with margin.
  • Work with cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects; support power design validation processes and standards for Ring projects.
  • Electrical Engineer development from RFQ to MP.
  • Hands-on circuit design, study, build and verification.
  • Work with new circuit design and study.
  • Identify root causes and provide solutions or workarounds for bugs.
  • Second source qualification, cost-down tasks and manufacturing efficiencies.

About the team

Within the Hardware Development team, you will be a core member of the Ring Taipei development team. Ideal candidates would be passionate about building IoT products. You must be responsive, flexible, and able to succeed within an open collaborative peer environment.

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of work experience, including at least 7+ years as an electrical designer.
  • Familiar with equipment operations: scope, power supply, data acquisition, etc.
  • Basic knowledge of firmware operation, MCU structure, OTA, GPIO settings, etc.
  • SI/PI knowledge including high-speed circuit layout guidance, buck/boost/LDO, AC to DC theory, and basic component selection capability.
  • PCB layout design and basic knowledge of EE CAD design tools.
  • Familiar with reliability concepts and MTBF.
  • Basic knowledge of general buses including I2C, I2S, SPI, and DDR.
  • PI knowledge including buck/boost/LDO/AC to DC theory, and basic component selection capability.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in English-language communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience in motherboard design, PCB design including schematic capture, stackup and circuit board layout.
  • Experience developing products for large-volume production.
  • Expertise in low power design and battery technologies.
  • Self-motivated, self-driven, team player, and ownership.
  • Ability to multitask and enjoy solving tough bugs.
  • Know IoT product market trends.
