Amazon Books is looking for a talented Vendor Manager who is responsible for creating the earth's greatest Books shopping experience in the Netherlands and Belgium. This new position will collaborate with local and global teams to develop the Books business in those countries. He/she will lead the vendor experience, including vendor onboarding, selection, CX pre and post launch.
The ideal candidate will have a general manager skill set including strong entrepreneurial mindset, excellent business judgement and strong relationship building abilities. Candidates should be able to break down complex problems and think creatively with a bias towards rolling up their sleeves. The role is based in Amsterdam with travels to Belgium and reports to the EU Cat Manager of Books Emerging Stores.
Key job responsibilities:- Define success criteria for local businesses in collaboration with Country and Books Leadership and be accountable for delivering against goals.
- Deliver a world class customer experience for local customers and innovate on their behalf.
- Manage and build comprehensive selection through strong vendor relationships including assessing market procurement conditions, recommending terms, and implementing procurement strategies.
- Be responsible for the following areas of business management: promotional campaigns, in-stock management (in close relationship to our supply chain management team), product development, and vendor performance communications.
- Set up a category procurement support strategy along with supply chain teams and drive continuous process improvements, such as improving vendor lead times.
- Attend trade shows and vendor meetings as required.
- Monitor and research industry and competitive trends to make the Amazon offering the best for the customer.
- Experience in senior leadership work in sales operations, sales strategy, finance, business development, or other related fields.
- Experience working in a matrixed environment, influencing strategy, and achieving goals by working across the organization.
- Experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities, or experience working with customers with a passion for delivering exceptional service.
- Experience with strong project management skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and stakeholder management across all levels of the organization.
- Proven analytical skills and experience using data and anecdotes to develop insights and solve problems.
- Entrepreneurial drive with bias for action.
- Experience working in Vendor Management and Books category is preferred.
- Experience working with diverse geographical teams and in a variety of cultures.
