Amazon Leo is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit. Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Amazon Leo will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers in places without reliable connectivity.
The Amazon Leo business operations team is looking for a Sr. Customer Delivery Manager to join our Global Enterprise Services organization, supporting our rapidly growing aviation customer base. You will serve as the primary delivery lead for commercial airlines, business aviation operators, and aircraft OEMs, deploying Amazon Leo satellite connectivity across their fleets. In this role, you will lead end-to-end customer onboarding execution, coordinating fleet-wide deployments and managing complex multi-aircraft implementation projects.
You will work closely with airline technical teams, Amazon Leo product/program management, AWS, partner ecosystem, and Field Service Partners to ensure successful service delivery from contract signature through operational acceptance. Your project management expertise and aviation industry knowledge will enable you to drive deployment schedules, coordinate aircraft installation activities, manage regulatory compliance requirements, and ensure mission-critical connectivity for passenger services, crew operations, and aircraft systems.
This position may require access to information, technology, or hardware that is subject to export control laws and regulations, including the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Employment in this position is contingent upon obtaining any required export licenses or other approvals from the United States government. As such, the successful candidate must be eligible to obtain any necessary export licenses or approvals based on their nationality, citizenship, and any other factors considered by the applicable export control regulations.
Key job responsibilities
- Lead customer onboarding execution for aviation deployments, coordinating across Amazon Leo product/program management, AWS, partner ecosystem, and airline technical teams to ensure successful service delivery.
- Manage assisted ordering process, system integration, and acceptance testing for aviation customers spanning commercial airlines, business aviation, and aircraft OEMs, ensuring validation meets schedule and quality requirements including STC (Supplemental Type Certificate) compliance and regulatory approvals.
- Collaborate with sales and business development leaders to plan and execute technical onboarding and acceptance testing for Amazon Leo Satellite Services delivered to aviation customers.
- Work with airline operations teams, MRO providers, and Field Service Partners to coordinate aircraft-specific deployment scheduling, installation quality assurance, and issue resolution across fleet rollouts.
- Manage customer experience through project tracking and timeline deliverables, identifying risks and gaps ahead of time to ensure smooth aircraft installations and service activation.
- Coordinate with Amazon Leo engineering teams to ensure system acceptance testing and validation meets aviation-specific requirements, schedule commitments, and quality standards.
- Advocate for the customer experience, coordinating with Customer Care teams around the rules of engagement during and post service delivery.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather customer requirements and propose effective delivery strategies for fleet-wide deployments.
- Manage regulatory compliance coordination including FAA, EASA, and other aviation authority requirements for aircraft installations and service certifications.
- Drive cross-functional alignment across Business Development, Solutions Architects, Technical Program Managers, Customer Delivery Engineers, and Partner Success Managers to ensure seamless customer delivery.
About the team
As a member of Global Enterprise Services (GES), you will be joining the Customer Delivery (CD) team, a customer-facing regional group of experts that serves as the technical execution engine behind all B2B direct and indirect customers. You will work specifically with aviation customers in support of the deployment of Amazon Leo services for their business operations.
Basic Qualifications
- Experience in technology-related sales, business development, or sales engineering/consulting.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering, or experience with current and upcoming RF standards in cellular (4G/5G), WiMAX, 802.11ad, microwave backhaul, DVB-S2 / DVB-C, or related broadband wireless standards.
- Experience working directly with enterprise or mobility customers, leading complex end-to-end system integration or on-site service delivery projects.
- Experience with project management of technical programs with demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent aircraft deployment projects.
- English language proficiency (business fluent - CEFR C1 or equivalent).
- French language proficiency (native/fluent - CEFR C2 or equivalent).
- Experience working directly with commercial airlines, business aviation operators, or aircraft OEMs on technical programs.
- Understanding of aviation regulatory requirements and certification processes (FAA, EASA, or equivalent).
- Experience with aviation connectivity systems, satellite communications, or aircraft systems integration.
Preferred Qualifications
- Project management certification such as PMP, Scrum, or other Agile certification.
- Experience in written and verbal communication with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to executives and non-technical leaders.
- Experience with hands-on work managing complex wireless or network technology deployments in aviation environments.
- Experience with working directly with satellite communications or IFEC (Inflight Entertainment and Connectivity) systems.
- Experience managing programs across cross-functional teams, building processes, earning trust with stakeholders, and coordinating service development milestones/launch criteria/schedules across internal engineering and 3P partner ecosystem.
- German language proficiency (business proficient - CEFR B2 or equivalent).
- Certifications and/or relevant hands-on work experience deploying cloud-native applications and microservices for enterprise IT workloads, preferably on AWS.
- Strong RF experience (telco or satellite) with hands-on experience managing site surveys, installation best practices, assessing link budget/SINR, signal interference, spectrum management/coordination with other wireless systems.
- Experience with aircraft connectivity systems, IFEC installations, or SATCOM deployments.
- Knowledge of aviation certification processes including STC development, aircraft installation requirements, and regulatory compliance.
- Understanding of aircraft systems architecture, avionics integration, and cabin systems.
- Experience with fleet-wide technology deployments across multiple aircraft types.
- Familiarity with aviation industry standards and practices (DO-160, DO-178, ARINC specifications).
- Experience coordinating with MRO providers, aircraft OEMs, and airline maintenance organizations.
- Understanding of managed network services for enterprise aviation, including the convergence of satellite and terrestrial networks.
- Knowledge of wireless technologies - Satellite Payloads, Ground Systems and Operations, 2G/3G/4G/5G, Packet Core and RAN, Data Plane vs Control Plane.
