WW Operations Finance is looking for a Financial Analyst to join the Carbon Planning & Analysis team, supporting EU and Rest of World (ROW) regions.
CP&A is the Finance Single Threaded Leader for carbon intensity (CI) data integrity, reporting, and planning across WW Ops' ~45MM t CO2 annual footprint, directly supporting the WW Ops S-team carbon intensity goal and Amazon's Climate Pledge commitment of net zero by 2040.
This role will maintain and improve the data structures underpinning EU/ROW carbon reporting and planning, partner cross-functionally and cross-country with regional sustainability and BI teams, and deep-dive data quality challenges as they arise.
The role sits at the intersection of Sustainability, Finance, and Operations - a rare combination that gives the analyst exposure to carbon science, financial planning rigor, and operational decarbonization levers all in one seat, and offers a strong foundation for building differentiated expertise early in their career.
The analyst will operate with oversight and mentorship from a senior CP&A team member, with growing autonomy over time as regional carbon data fluency builds.
- Key job responsibilities
- Support EU and ROW carbon month-end close (MEC), ensuring carbon ledger (GCD) aligned data quality and timely resolution of carbonation and data quality issues.
- Maintain and continuously improve EU/ROW carbon reporting and planning data structures within data cluster and Carbon Reporting Deck.
- Partner cross-functionally and cross-country with EU and ROW regional sustainability, BI, and BU Finance teams to consolidate data requests, validate submissions, and resolve discrepancies.
- Support EU/ROW carbon planning cycles (OP1/3YF, OP2, Glidepath), ensuring carbon drivers (LMPP, 3P cost, WHT Lo H, fleet electrification) are captured accurately and tie to the broader financial plan.
- Deep-dive data quality and reporting challenges, identify root causes, and propose process or automation improvements.
- Contribute to CP&A's transition toward an AI-native reporting and planning model - supporting Gen AI-powered variance commentary, automated data quality checks, and other tools that reduce manual reconciliation work.
- Assist in preparing variance commentary and metrics tables for leadership reporting (Kingpin, WWS reviews), under the guidance of a senior team member.
- Escalate data quality, timeline, or stakeholder risks promptly, partnering with the senior team member on resolution.
- Build subject-matter expertise in carbon data systems and regional carbon drivers to grow scope over time.
A day in the life
Your day starts with a check of data submission status and the latest carbon ledger (GCD) snapshot for EU and ROW, flagging any late, missing, or anomalous data before it becomes a downstream reporting issue.
You'll join a call with an EU or ROW sustainability or BI counterpart to align on a carbon driver discrepancy or walk through a data request - always leading with data lineage and methodology clarity, since regional teams often hold their own numbers.
Back at your desk, you update Carbon Reporting Deck tabs for your regions, validate CI calculations, and dig into any variances that don't tie to plan.
You sync with your senior team member to review findings, prioritize open items, and decide what needs escalation versus what you can resolve independently.
Depending on the point in the month, your afternoon might involve supporting a planning cycle deliverable (OP1/3YF, OP2, Glidepath), pulling together inputs for a leadership review, or scoping a process improvement to reduce manual reconciliation work.
About the team
Carbon Planning & Analysis sits within WW Operations Finance and was built from scratch in 2024 to bridge carbon science and financial planning across Amazon's largest and most complex emissions source.
The team serves as the Finance Single Threaded Leader for carbon intensity reporting, planning, and data integrity across NA, EU, and ROW - covering 10+ business units and over 45MM t CO2 of annual operations-wide emissions.
CP&A owns the monthly carbon month-end close, the Carbon Reporting Deck (WW Ops' single source of truth for CI), and multi-year carbon planning (OP1/3YF, OP2), directly informing decisions at the VP and S-team level in support of the Climate Pledge's net zero by 2040 commitment.
It's a small, high-visibility team that combines rigorous financial modeling with deep carbon domain expertise, and is actively building out AI-native automation for data quality checks and variance commentary.
This role will report to a senior CP&A team member and work alongside peers covering NA carbon planning and reporting.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or related field, or experience in relevant finance roles
- Speak, write, and read fluently in English
- Experience in forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and interpreting financial results
- Experience using financial models, KPIs, and data analysis to support business decisions - Experience developing financial models in Excel with advanced functions (pivot tables, macros, VBA, Power Query)
- Experience with data analytics platforms (Power BI, Python, SQL, Tableau)
