We are looking for an Economist to build innovative solutions based on econometrics, experimentation, and machine learning helping us to answer challenging and impactful business problems for Prime Video with ads. Key job responsibilities
- Leverage causal inference methods to estimate the impact of large-scale investments ex post
- Develop advanced structural demand and econometric frameworks for products and services
- Collaborate with other scientists at Amazon to deliver measurable progress and change
- Influence business leaders based on empirical findings
A day in the life
You will work as an individual contributor working on a mix of complex strategic, long-term research as well as tactical analytical projects. You will write technical as well as business-facing documents and present your work to business leaders and the science community.
About the team
The Entertainment Economics team consists of PhD-trained structural and causal-inference Economists, data scientists, and data engineers. We are a high-impact team driving decision-making in areas including Prime Video Ads, Music, and marketing measurement.
Basic Qualifications
- PhD in Economics or a related field
- Strong proficiency in at least one of the following statistical software packages: Python, R, Stata, or Matlab
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven track record in research and solution of business problems leveraging techniques from economics or related disciplines.
- Strong writing skills
- Advanced coding ability in a scripting language such as STATA, R, and/or Python
- Demonstrable experience in any of the following areas of applied economics (multiple areas preferred): reduced-form causal analysis, predictive modeling and causal ML algorithms, forecasting, hazard models, labor economics, health and insurance economics, education economics, behavioral economics, designing and administering large-scale social science surveys.
