We are seeking an experienced Language Content Specialist to join the Amazon Business Marketing team. As a native German speaker, you will ensure the highest quality localization and transcreation of marketing content while maintaining cultural authenticity and market-appropriate terminology. This role also involves evaluating and adapting source content for target markets, taking into consideration product availability, cultural sensitivities, and local business practices. The position includes terminology management (style guides, term bases and translation memory management) for the German market. Working within established standard operating procedures, you will exercise independent judgment to make critical decisions about content adaptation and quality assurance. Success in this role requires deep cultural knowledge, excellent linguistic skills, and a thorough understanding of marketing communications.

Please note that this is a London-based role and requires presence 5 days in the office.

Key job responsibilities

  1. Apply native-level expertise in German to localize and transcreate marketing content, utilizing quality assurance tools and metrics to ensure excellence.
  2. Review and validate localized and transcreated content for linguistic accuracy, cultural appropriateness, and adherence to style guidelines, including identification and correction of any grammatical or contextual errors.
  3. Collaborate with the Localization Project Manager to maintain project timelines and ensure consistent, high-quality deliverables across all marketplaces.
  4. Develop and maintain terminology databases and style guides for German markets, ensuring standardization of language assets.
  5. Adapt source content for target markets, considering regional product availability, cultural sensitivities, and local business practices.
  6. Engage with corporate and partner teams in-country to understand and address localization issues.
  7. Manage routine escalations as needed.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor\’s degree in foreign languages, translation studies or linguistics (or equivalent experience of at least 1-2 years in localization or subtitling) for German.
  • Speak, write, and read fluently in English.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products and applications.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to deliver results and prioritize tasks in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking and provide insights while working with creative content.
  • Technical experience with localization and terminology platforms and tools, such as GlobalLink, Trados, and MemoQ.
