Amazon is seeking a Senior Indirect Tax Manager to join the Tax team based in Dubai, to support the Amazon (Stores) business.

The candidate will primarily focus on Indirect tax matters but also have an awareness of Corporate tax, withholding tax, and transfer pricing matters.

Key job responsibilities will involve work within the VAT planning team for Middle East and Africa. This position will collaborate with cross-functional teams (Business Partners/ Global tax teams and other stakeholders) to ensure tax considerations are incorporated into new business decisions, expansions into new markets, new product offerings, or restructuring of operations, providing practical solutions that align with the company’s strategy and vision.

In order to be successful, the candidate must possess the ability to think strategically while also engaging in normal day-to-day tactical details. The candidate must:

  1. Have in-depth VAT technical knowledge with experience evaluating and advising on business initiatives, contemplated transactions, and business proposals;
  2. Support on extremely complex audit and controversy projects in a hands-on and dynamic way;
  3. Develop relationships with both internal and external customers, including active engagement with Tax Authorities;
  4. Effectively manage networks and stakeholders, and communicate complex VAT concepts in ways that are meaningful and useful to non-tax professionals;
  5. Assist with the delivery of planning, real-time coordination, and communication of various tax-related projects as well as collaborating with business partner contacts. This includes drafting the appropriate level of documentation to support analyses performed, decisions made, and conclusions reached for purposes of reporting and compliance;
  6. Lead/manage tax audits and inquiries by tax authorities, including preparing and reviewing responses to information requests and defending the company’s tax technical positions;
  7. Monitor changes in the Tax environment to understand the impact on current day-to-day business operations, identifying risks and opportunities;
  8. Provide guidance to internal stakeholders on international tax matters, including conducting workshops or presentations to educate employees on tax implications of their activities.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

– 10+ years of tax, finance, or a related analytical field experience
– 10+ years of tax experience with a significant amount of time providing technical guidance experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

– Experience within a multinational business and either legal or accountancy firm experience
– Experience liaising with tax authorities including responding to audits and information requests
