Amazon Web Services is looking for a highly motivated Technical Subsea Network Business Developer to help build and scale one of the world’s largest and most complex networks. This role, within the Global Connectivity Infrastructure Development (GCID) organization, is responsible for planning and building subsea backbone capacity in close coordination with other team members. The candidate should be self-driven, have the ability to learn quickly and influence decision-making across organizations.
In this position, you will work closely with various Amazon business units to gather, refine and drive program goals to develop and deliver submarine cable projects. You will have the opportunity to implement new processes and procedures driving continuous improvement while interacting with a broad range of stakeholders across Amazon. Our Technical Business Developers are responsible for sourcing and planning, but also assisting in delivery, and have ownership of our network acquisition, implementation strategy and the maintenance of relationships with strategic suppliers to expand and grow Amazon's AWS footprint worldwide.

Key job responsibilitiesIn this position, the candidate will work closely with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement submarine cable projects across the globe. The candidate will organize, track, and coordinate with vendors and internal and external teams to deliver new subsea backbone capacity for Amazon. They will work with capacity planners and engineers to ensure the most efficient and cost effective network topology is developed and delivered. The candidate will collaborate with a wide variety of internal teams including business development, finance, tax, legal, and deployment, to successfully implement their plans.
A day in the lifeOur projects are multi-year in duration, requiring careful planning, disciplined execution and with a growing program, constant invention and simplification. We work with internal and external stakeholders and partners, driving projects to meet our goals and timelines. We ensure that the delivery of the projects from concept to operation meet our high standards and specifications. When faced with an issue or delay, we invent to solve for the roadblock alerting our customers along the way. Communications are crisp, timely and always advise a path forward. We learn from each other, ensuring global consistency.
The Subsea Backbone team is responsible for all aspects of submarine network deployment, operation, upgrades and management within AWS. We own the technology roadmap and standards for submarine fibre optic cable, installation methods, procurement of the SLTE, RSPC and associated operational models and security postures. The team works closely with the Regional Business Development teams to deliver submarine capacity to a global standard, enabling economic and scalable consistency for all our customers.
