AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure customers have continual access to innovative services. You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a high level of system reliability by prioritising and resolving trouble tickets efficiently.
  • Escalation point and technical troubleshooter for all systems and problems.
  • Deep‑dive into Linux server issues.
  • XEN service virtualization troubleshooting.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues on various platforms ranging from systems through to power / mechanical.
  • Remedy physical‑layer outages, both systems and network.
  • Recover or remediate physical power issues on racks.
  • Participate in data‑center power & cooling events.
  • Meet 24x7 on‑call requirements and respond during shift rotations.
  • Install & configure racks of hosts in line with internal SLAs.
  • Triage & resolve trouble tickets for all devices in your region.
  • Act as the data‑center point of contact for all high‑severity issues.
  • Perform physical replacement of server and network device parts.
  • Ensure correct rotation of parts & spares.
  • Help define metrics to increase customer uptime.
  • Enforce Amazon’s security best practices.
  • Interact with third‑party vendors & contractors.
  • Contribute ideas to improve operational efficiency.
  • Participate in and deliver on a number of high‑impact small to mid‑scale projects.
  • Attend team meetings for metric analysis and project status updates.
  • Help build the world’s largest cloud infrastructure.
  • Share knowledge and help educate less‑technical staff on the best practices related to all service‑owner issues.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience working in a data center environment (racking and stacking gear, cable management, hot/cold aisle containment).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or higher in IT‑related field or applicable certifications.
  • Networking experience with CCNA and/or Network+ certifications.
  • Experience with CISCO, Juniper and other commodity networking devices.
  • Previous experience working in a data centre environment (racking & stacking gear, cable management, hot & cold aisle containment).
  • Networking protocols (OSI model).
  • Copper/Fibre optic testing/cabling standards.
  • Valid driver’s license and own vehicle; passing a driving record check to operate company vehicles.
  • Travel between sites/locations during the workday may occur.
