The successful candidate will oversee the operation and maintenance of the electrical and mechanical infrastructure for Data Centers (DC) in Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud regions. Our technicians are operating and maintaining AWS DCs’ world-class mechanical and electrical infrastructure. In addition to technical operations and maintenance, the successful candidate will oversee facility operations and ensure the implementation of safety procedures.
The role requires a motivated, self-managed individual who demonstrates initiative and proactively seeks solutions to problems while striving for operational excellence. The work follows a process-oriented approach: the individual needs a strong willingness to learn new processes and adapt to rapidly changing operational scenarios with conflicting priorities.
The successful candidate will be part of the Engineering and Facilities team and will be responsible for maintaining availability for customers; ensuring maintenance and operation of technical infrastructure; and the upkeep and operation of the DC facility.
Key job responsibilities:- Safety - Follow and maintain the highest safety standards and diligently encourage a world-class safety culture. As a facility owner team, ensure remediation of safety risks/issues in conjunction with other teams. Own the safety initiatives and projects to foster strong safety culture.
- Engineering & Facility Operations and Maintenance - Operational experience and familiarity with electrical and mechanical equipment, including Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS’s), Switchgear, Circuit Breakers, Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS’s), Diesel Generators, Chillers, Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC), Exhaust Fans, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD’s), and Transformers.
- Troubleshoot events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA’s).
- Take daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment through routine rounds/log-taking (temperatures, voltages, currents, etc.).
- Supervise contractors who perform servicing or preventive maintenance.
- Manual handling and lifting of equipment may be required.
- Ability to work shifts (morning, late and night).
- On-call rotation reaction to off-duty emergency calls.

Basic Qualifications:- City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Knowledge and experience of mechanical systems (Mechanical, HVAC systems, Controls), or knowledge and experience of key electrical competencies and theory.
- 2+ years of data center engineering operations experience.
- Bachelors degree in electrical, mechanical or equivalent engineering.
