Regional Enviro Audit Lead, AWS Environmental in London

The successful candidate will join the AWS Environmental team, an expanding and dynamic team that is critical to enabling AWS's growth around the world, as well as ensuring regulatory compliance and highest-level environmental performance of AWS's data center global ops. The Environmental team has responsibility for managing Environmental requirements and risk from site selection through to decommissioning. This role requires a highly skilled professional to manage complex, ambiguous audit initiatives across organizational boundaries.

The ideal candidate must lead regional audits, influence stakeholders, and work independently while seeking guidance when needed. Strong strategic and tactical skills are essential, including balancing short and long-term needs, mitigating risks, and delivering simplified solutions. Excellent communication skills are crucial, with the ability to present to senior leadership and write strategic narratives. Cross-functional collaboration and consensus-building are key. Key job responsibilities

• Leadership and commitment: Support the Environmental Audit program to evolve and meet changing organizational needs, stakeholder expectations, and environmental challenges, and securing necessary resources and support for continuous improvement.
• Risk management and planning: Support the ongoing identification and assessment of environmental risks identified through the audit program across AWS global ops. Develop and implement strategic plans to address significant environmental risks and opportunities, setting ambitious yet achievable improvements.
• Implementation and operation: Oversee the design and deployment of our Audit program to enhance environmental performance to ensure compliance with legal and other requirements. Lead associated environmental audit training and awareness programs to embed audit skills throughout the organization.
• Performance evaluation: Establish and manage a robust system for monitoring, measuring, and reporting performance of the Audit program. Conduct regular internal audits of Environmental Management System and regulatory compliance and analyze data to identify trends, gaps, and areas for improvement. Present performance reports and recommendations to top management.
• Continual improvement: Drive the ongoing enhancement of the Audit program leading management reviews, implementing corrective and preventative actions, and identifying innovative approaches to improve environmental performance.

This role can be based out of either our London or Dublin offices.

Basic Qualifications

• Experience in project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management.
• Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules.
• Experience building and evaluating system-level technical design.
• Experience in environmental compliance and permitting, waste management, contractual, regulatory, and liability assessments, environmental permit evaluations and applications, EIAs and water discharge requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Speak, write, and read fluently in French, Spanish, German or Italian.
