If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our elite team of cyber specialists as a Cyber Security Apprentice. In this role, you will be at the forefront of safeguarding our organisation's digital assets, working alongside seasoned professionals to develop cutting-edge security solutions. You will dive deep into the world of cyber security, mastering the latest techniques and technologies to detect, analyse, and mitigate potential vulnerabilities and threats.

Throughout your apprenticeship, you will learn to design, build, and configure secure networks, write and test secure code, analyse malware, and conduct ethical system reconnaissance. You will develop a keen understanding of risk assessment, security management systems, and legal and regulatory compliance standards. But it’s not just about technical skills – you will also hone your problem-solving abilities, critical thinking, and communication skills, enabling you to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and present your findings to stakeholders.

A day in the life can involve:

  • Analysing network traffic and system logs to identify potential security breaches
  • Conducting vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to uncover weaknesses
  • Developing and implementing security policies and procedures
  • Investigating and responding to cyber incidents, working closely with incident response teams
  • Staying up to date with the latest cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and mitigation techniques
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure secure system design and development

You will need to have a meticulous and detail-oriented approach when it comes to tasks, be able to work effectively with cross-functional teams to communicate technical findings to a variety of stakeholders. You need to be a curious person who has a passion for staying up-to-date with the latest cyber security trends as well as a flexible attitude and an ability to perform under pressure whilst prioritising tasks.

You will gain a vast range of useful experiences and skills whilst working towards the BSc (Hons) Cyber Security Technical Professional Degree. As a working student, your focus is to complete your studies in your 20% off-the-job time by learning and developing your skills, knowledge, and behaviours to work towards successful graduation. You will be set objectives and goals by your training provider and manager to support your studies. Please note: As part of your off-the-job learning, you will be required to travel to a training centre, which is located in Gloucester. Candidates should be prepared for occasional travel as part of the apprenticeship programme.

You will build your skills over a 42-month period, starting in September. These skills will help you develop personally and professionally. Your apprenticeship will be made up of classroom/virtual based training to cover knowledge, on-the-job training at your Amazon base location, online learning as well as mentoring from our experienced team members.

Please note: as part of the 42-month apprenticeship programme, you will be required to travel to an external training provider based in Gloucester.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • To qualify for this programme, you must:
  • Be 18 years or over before the start date (September 2026)
  • Have the right to live and work in England (if you are on a visa, this needs to enable you to legally work and reside in England for the entire duration of the program).
  • Have lived in the UK or in the European Economic Area (EEA) for the last 3 years
  • Not be registered to study on a UK government funded course ending August 2026 or later
  • Be prepared to travel for external/mandatory training as part of the apprenticeship
  • Have at least 5 GCSEs C grade (grade 4) or above including Maths and English
  • You must also have a minimum of 112 UCAS points, which includes 1 stem related qualification at level 3 (A-level, BTEC, etc)
  • Please note, if you have received educational qualifications outside of the UK then we will require a Statement of Comparability to confirm your eligibility for the scheme. Please ensure you obtain one during the application process, through UK ENIC:
  • Previous qualifications will be reviewed for funding eligibility and offers are subject to funding approval
  • This position is a 42 month fixed-term contract. You must NOT already have a qualification in a similar subject at the same or higher level than this apprenticeship.
  • This Apprenticeship assumes the candidate has some or little knowledge/experience of the occupation
