Responsibilities
- Design user experiences for developer tools and workflows related to Alexa device app testing, submission, and certification processes.
- Create design solutions including interaction design, visual design, wireframes, and prototypes.
- Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and senior designers to translate requirements into intuitive user experiences.
- Support user research activities with developers to understand pain points and workflows throughout the app development lifecycle.
- Design and iterate on developer consoles, dashboards, testing interfaces, and submission portals.
- Apply and contribute to design systems and patterns that scale across developer touchpoints.
- Present design concepts to team members and stakeholders, incorporating feedback effectively.
- Work closely with engineering teams to ensure quality implementation of designs.
- Balance developer needs with business objectives and technical constraints.
- Develop AI automation tools (e.g. Figma plugins with vibe coding).

The Devices & Services Experience Design (DXD) team leads user experience and industrial design innovation across Amazon's device portfolio, including Echo, Fire TV, Fire Tablets, and the Alexa app. Our team works at the intersection of design, product and engineering, creating meaningful hardware and software experiences that enhance customer lives. We believe in storytelling and thinking holistically to craft the "why" behind everything we ship. The design organization plays a critical role in accelerating collaboration between designers, engineers, researchers, and product managers across products like FireTV, Echo Family Devices, Fire Tablets, and the Alexa mobile app.
Role Overview
Amazon Developer is seeking a talented UX Designer to help shape the developer experience for building and submitting applications for Alexa devices. This role requires a strong foundation in user-centered design, technical understanding, and problem-solving skills to create intuitive workflows that empower developers to test and publish their apps seamlessly. This position is within the Devices & Services Experience Design (DXD) team. DXD is a multidisciplinary team passionate about discovering unanticipated needs, designing innovative products, and creating soulful experiences crafted with meticulous attention to detail.
Qualifications
- Experience in delivering design solutions as a UX designer or interaction designer.
- Have an available online portfolio.
- Experience acquiring user data (e.g., conducting usability studies, performing user research) and creating personas and journey maps.
- Experience designing software applications, tools, or web-based products.
- Understanding of technical concepts and ability to communicate with engineering teams.
- Proficiency in industry-standard design tools (Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud, etc.).
- Experience in mass-market consumer web / mobile products.
- Experience working in a collaborative team and working directly with developers for implementation of designs.
- Experience and understanding of front-end technologies (HTML/CSS/JS) to help inform design and interaction decisions.
- Experience designing developer-facing products, technical tools, or B2B applications.
- Technical background or familiarity with software development concepts and testing processes.
- Understanding of app submission, review, and certification workflows (iOS App Store, Google Play, or similar platforms).
- Experience with voice interfaces, conversational design, or IoT device ecosystems.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design practices.
- Experience with AI tools (vibe coding, Figma plugins, automation).
