Amazon's Global Retirement & Investments team is looking for a Benefits Manager to oversee the end-to-end management of retirement benefits across multiple international jurisdictions. You will own the design, governance, operational management, and continuous improvement of pension and retirement schemes that serve many thousands of Amazon employees, partnering with trustees, providers, investment advisors, payroll, HR, finance, legal, and benefits teams to ensure these programs run smoothly and deliver a strong employee experience. You will also develop and maintain risk management frameworks that protect plan integrity, monitor regulatory developments across your assigned jurisdictions, and drive operational excellence through data-driven reporting and process improvement. This high-impact role combines strategic benefits management with hands-on oversight, sitting at the intersection of employee experience, ongoing management, compliance, and corporate and plan governance.

Key job responsibilities

  • Oversee the end-to-end administration and governance of retirement programs across assigned markets (e.g., UK pension schemes), partnering with trustees, investment advisors, and third-party administrators to deliver well-run plans and a positive member experience.
  • Lead investment oversight for your portfolio — fund-lineup monitoring, performance review against benchmarks, and preparation of investment-governance materials.
  • Lead vendor reviews, RFPs, and plan-design benchmarking; manage plan and vendor costs against budget, delivering savings through fee negotiation and confirming value for money.
  • Monitor regulatory developments from local pension authorities (e.g., The Pensions Regulator), conduct compliance assessments (e.g., UK auto-enrolment), and manage cyclical governance activities to keep programs compliant.
  • Coordinate with payroll, HR, finance, legal, compliance, and benefits teams to ensure seamless data flows, accurate reporting, and timely issue resolution.
  • Own member-facing retirement content and communications — deliver annual campaigns and drive participation against enrollment and satisfaction targets; build data-driven dashboards and papers for governance committees and leadership reviews.
  • Support expansion into new international markets, and contribute to broader Global Retirement & Investments initiatives and cross-country governance standards.

A day in the life

Your day might begin by reviewing retirement program operations across your assigned markets — checking enrollment data, contribution accuracy, and flagging any issues for resolution with payroll or your third-party administrators. Mid-morning, you could be joining a call with trustees or investment advisors to discuss plan governance or upcoming regulatory changes in one of your jurisdictions. After lunch, you might shift to analyzing plan performance data and updating dashboards that track operational health and risk indicators, before connecting with HR and benefits colleagues on employee queries or upcoming compliance cycles. No two days are the same — you will move between hands-on operational oversight, stakeholder collaboration, and longer-term strategic work like process improvements or supporting the expansion of retirement programs into new international markets.

About the team

Sitting within Amazon's broader Benefits organization, the Global Retirement & Investments team is a collaborative group of retirement and benefits professionals committed to delivering exceptional employee experiences through well-designed, well-run pension and retirement benefits. Our vision is to build scalable, compliant retirement programs that serve Amazon employees across multiple countries and adapt to evolving regulatory landscapes. We work across geographies and business units — partnering with HR, benefits, compensation, technology, payroll, and operations teams — to ensure our programs remain employee-focused, operationally sound, and compliant. We're excited to welcome someone who shares our commitment to excellence and understands the importance of protecting our employees' retirement security.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience managing pension or retirement benefits programs, including scheme administration, governance, design, and vendors.
  • Knowledge of pension or retirement plan frameworks in at least one major market (e.g., UK auto-enrolment, defined contribution/defined benefit structures).
  • Experience coordinating with multiple stakeholders such as trustees, advisors, payroll, and HR teams.
  • Experience managing concurrent workstreams such as implementations, vendor transitions, and regulatory projects, managing competing deadlines, dependencies, and stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional pension or benefits certification (e.g., PMI, IIPM, CFA, or local equivalent).
  • Experience with a variety of retirement plan structures across different markets (e.g., UK master trusts, defined benefit schemes, or equivalent international programs).
  • Managing and influencing senior stakeholders, including trustee boards.
  • Experience building or improving operational processes, reporting frameworks, or benefits program governance.
  • Familiarity with risk management principles as applied to pension or benefits programs.
  • Experience working across multiple countries or jurisdictions on retirement or benefits programs.
  • Comfort with data visualization tools or analytics platforms for operational reporting; interpreting benefit data and applying critical judgment skills to inform design, operational and governance decisions.
