This role focuses on those who have military experience interested in working in the private sector. Amazon's military recruiting team is available to discuss the many opportunities within Amazon and AWS. AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on challenging problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain and are looking for talented people who want to help. You will join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles, collaborating with people across AWS to deliver high safety and security standards while providing capacity at the lowest possible cost. Responsibilities:
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of the electrical and mechanical infrastructure for Data Centers (DC) in AWS Cloud regions.
- Ensure maintenance and operation of the DCs’ world-class mechanical and electrical infrastructure as part of the Engineering and Facilities team.
- Ensure the implementation of safety procedures and maintain a world-class safety culture.
- Own safety initiatives and projects in collaboration with other teams.
- Operational experience with electrical and mechanical equipment, including UPSs, switchgear, circuit breakers, ATSs, diesel generators, chillers, HVAC, exhaust fans, VFDs, and transformers.
- Troubleshoot events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Take daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment through routine rounds/log-taking (temperatures, voltages, currents, etc.).
- Supervise contractors who perform servicing or preventive maintenance.
- Manual handling and lifting of equipment may be required.
- Ability to work in shifts (morning, late, and night) and participate in on-call rotation for off-duty emergency calls.
Qualifications:
- City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Knowledge of mechanical systems (Mechanical, HVAC systems, controls) or knowledge of key electrical competencies and theory.
- 2+ years of data center engineering operations experience (preferred).
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or equivalent engineering (preferred).
