AWS seeks a results-driven professional to join the EMEA Infrastructure Energy Team, managing power strategy across European markets. Responsibilities include conducting market research; originating and securing utility-scale power for AWS's data centres; providing energy expertise to Site Acquisition; developing compliance strategies for emerging utility regulations (e.g., use-it-or-lose-it, grid codes) across northern Europe; and partnering with Public Policy to position AWS as a trusted utility and policymaker partner while advancing connection reforms critical for business growth.
The position can be based in Dublin or London. Regular travel (10-20%) will be required throughout Europe.
Responsibilities- Lead the development of comprehensive strategies that enable the origination of scalable power opportunities in EMEA.
- Collaborate with partner teams to develop business cases that enable AWS business growth and present them to leadership for decision-making.
- Build strategic relationships with diverse stakeholders, including electricity utilities, utility regulators, and policymakers to support AWS business growth.
- Support advocacy efforts for grid connection policy changes that remove barriers to expansion in challenging regions.
- Provide subject matter expertise and support to team members focused on originating and securing utility power.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, energy management, business or related field
- 8+ years professional experience within the energy sector with extensive experience working with utilities
- Expertise in power grids with strong knowledge of grid codes and connection policies at national or EU level
- Advanced project management and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to think strategically and drive tactical execution of contracts/projects
- Ability to prioritise and manage multiple projects/responsibilities
- Master’s Degree
- Experience originating and securing utility power
- Experience designing/delivering HV/MV electrical infrastructure
- Experience of IT infrastructure, data centres and cloud services
- Ability to converse in German, French, Swedish or Italian
