AMAT UK are excited to offer a new opportunity for a Women's Project Support Worker to join our team. AMAT UK has been awarded funding to work with women experiencing homelessness in a new, dynamic, empathic, and exciting way. Our new women's project offers support, advice, and guidance to women experiencing homelessness and living in the community. This project aims to empower, connect, and support women to reclaim and rebuild their lives, in an environment that celebrates their achievements and supports them to understand the trauma that they have experienced, whilst building the foundations for independent living and positive connections.

The project is being delivered in two parts: we will accommodate women experiencing homelessness and work with women in the community via our community project, The HIVE. The project is centred around addressing social isolation, health inequalities, and empowering women to come together and shape a service in the Medway Towns that is fit for purpose and meaningful—something that will make an ongoing difference to all vulnerable women or women experiencing homelessness.

As a Women's Project Support Worker, you'll be offering support within our women-specific accommodation, developing person-centred support plans, setting goals and ambitions to work towards, liaising with key partner agencies, and supporting these women to understand the intersecting reasons that they became homeless and developing future-proof plans to ensure they do not become homeless again. This role is about empowering women to reclaim, rebuild, and reshape their life, whilst being able to rely on the strength of their community and the support that their peers and AMAT UK will provide them with. Our work is about more than providing safe accommodation—it's about walking alongside these women as they find they rebuild their confidence.

About the Role:

  • Full-time (37.5 hours per week). These hours can be flexible and will be discussed during the interview process.
  • Working from our women's only accommodation and office base.
  • Being the key support worker for women accommodated by AMAT UK, developing person-centred support plans and risk assessments, delivering in-house activities and events, and signposting them to key partner agencies.
  • Managing a curated caseload of women experiencing homelessness.
  • Reviewing and celebrating achievements and learning points, documenting these on our CRM system.
  • Maintaining good liaison with the Support Services Manager, AMAT staff, and other key partner agencies.
  • Working alongside the WP Community Support Worker and other HIVE staff to arrange events and activities.
  • Recording conversations and interactions/outcomes for reporting and monitoring purposes.
  • Offering basic support to residents and community members and visitors who wish to access services.
  • Carrying out support actions in line with residents' support plans.
  • Facilitating group activities as required.

This role is varied, challenging, and very rewarding.

About You:

  • Proactive, self-motivated, and enthusiastic.
  • Passion for women's issues and making a meaningful difference.
  • Excellent rapport building skills, who is able to listen without judgement.
  • An excellent communicator, with the ability to manage challenging behaviour and difficult situations, as well as being able to facilitate difficult conversations.
  • Experienced in working within the homelessness sector, particularly with risk assessments and support planning.
  • Experience working within the domestic violence sector is desirable.
  • Experience working with mental health and substance use is desirable.
