Role Description

Our client is seeking a Commercial Insurance Broker Administrator / Trainee Broker to join its growing team based in Highams Park.

This is a full-time, office-based position, working Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm.

The successful candidate will provide administrative support to the brokerage team while learning the fundamentals of commercial insurance broking in a supportive and specialist environment.

This opportunity is ideal for someone with brokerage administration experience looking to progress their career, or for a recent graduate with a genuine interest in commercial insurance who is keen to develop into a Commercial Broker.

Full training, mentoring, and ongoing support will be provided, with a clear pathway into a Broker or Account Executive role for ambitious individuals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Broker Administration
  • Provide day-to-day administrative support to the commercial broking team.
  • Prepare and issue policy documentation, renewal invitations, schedules, and client correspondence.
  • Process new business, renewals, mid-term adjustments, and policy cancellations.
  • Maintain accurate client records and ensure all documentation is up to date.
  • Liaise with clients, insurers, and underwriters regarding policy queries and documentation.
  • Operational Support
  • Assist Brokers with obtaining quotations and preparing client information.
  • Ensure all work is completed accurately and within agreed timescales.
  • Support compliance by maintaining accurate records in line with FCA requirements.
  • Manage incoming enquiries and provide administrative support across the business as required.
  • Assist with general office administration and operational tasks.
  • Team Support
  • Work independently when required, including occasional days where you will be the only member of the office team while colleagues are working off-site.
  • Contribute to maintaining an organised and professional office environment.
  • Support colleagues with administrative projects and workflow during busy periods.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confident, professional, and proactive approach to work.
  • Ability to prioritise workload, manage multiple tasks, and work independently when required.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Desirable

Previous experience in an insurance brokerage administration or insurance support role (2–3 years preferred).

Commercial Insurance experience.

Experience using the Acturis insurance management system.

Understanding of FCA-regulated insurance processes.

A degree or equivalent qualification for graduates looking to begin a career in insurance.
