We are seeking a reliable, organised, and enthusiastic Art Technician to support the smooth running of our busy Art Department. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for the arts and practical workshop skills who enjoys working in a creative educational environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, maintain, and organise art materials, equipment, and resources for lessons.
- Support teachers and students during practical art sessions.
- Maintain specialist equipment, including ceramics, printmaking, photography, and digital art resources (where applicable).
- Ensure classrooms, preparation areas, and storage spaces are clean, safe, and well organised.
- Assist with the installation and display of student artwork around the school.
- Monitor stock levels, order materials, and manage deliveries within the department budget.
- Ensure safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials in accordance with Health & Safety regulations.
- Carry out routine maintenance and basic repairs to equipment where appropriate.
- Support departmental events, exhibitions, and open evenings.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Experience working within an art department, workshop, school, college, or creative environment (desirable but not essential).
- Good practical skills and knowledge of a range of artistic materials and processes.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- The ability to prioritise tasks and work independently.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- A commitment to maintaining high standards of health and safety.
- A flexible and proactive approach to supporting staff and students.
