We are turning amaranth into the next big thing in food – and we are looking for someone to help bring it to market. Join us as a Sales & Business Development Manager and drive the commercial adoption of our ingredients across dairy alternatives, bakery, snacks, sauces, and more. This is a front-line, execution-focused role where you will generate leads, build a strong pipeline, close deals, and grow strategic customer relationships.

As a Sales & Business Development Manager at AmaranthLabs, you will play a key role in driving the commercial growth of our ingredient platform. You will be responsible for identifying and engaging prospective customers, building and managing a robust sales pipeline, and converting opportunities into long-term partnerships. Working closely with R&D, you will translate technical capabilities into clear customer value propositions and ensure successful onboarding and adoption. This is a high-impact role with direct exposure to customers, offering the opportunity to shape our go-to-market strategy and contribute to scaling our business in the UK and the EU.

What you'll do:

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities with food manufacturers, ingredient companies, and strategic partners across target categories.
  • Generate and qualify leads through outbound outreach, inbound channels, and industry networking, building a strong and consistent sales pipeline.
  • Own and manage opportunities through the full sales cycle, from initial engagement to negotiation and deal closure.
  • Lead customer meetings and presentations, clearly articulating the value proposition and application potential of AmaranthLabs ingredients.
  • Coordinate closely with R&D and application teams to deliver samples, support trials, and address technical questions during the sales process.
  • Prepare proposals, pricing, and commercial agreements in collaboration with leadership.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for customers, ensuring smooth onboarding and successful integration of ingredients.
  • Build and manage long-term customer relationships, identifying opportunities for account growth and repeat business.
  • Maintain accurate CRM data, pipeline tracking, and sales reporting.
  • Gather and synthesize customer feedback, sharing insights internally to inform product development and commercial strategy.
  • Monitor market activity, competitor landscape, and industry trends to identify new opportunities.
  • Represent AmaranthLabs at trade shows, industry events, and customer meetings to build brand presence and generate leads.

What we're looking for:

  • 3–7+ years of experience in sales or business development, ideally in food ingredients, food manufacturing, or B2B food tech.
  • Proven track record of closing deals and managing customers end-to-end.
  • Comfortable owning the full sales cycle – from cold outreach to signed contract.
  • Strong commercial instinct: you understand how to prioritise leads, move deals forward, and get things done.
  • Able to sell technical products – you don’t need to be a scientist, but you can quickly grasp ingredient functionality and translate it into customer value.
  • Confident communicator who can engage with R&D teams, buyers, and senior stakeholders.
  • Hands-on and proactive – you don’t wait for leads, you go out and create them.
  • Organised enough to manage your pipeline, follow-ups, and customer communication without heavy structure.
  • Comfortable working in an early-stage startup where priorities shift and resources are limited.
  • Motivated by building something from scratch and having real impact on company growth.

Perks & benefits:

  • Competitive salary.
  • Brand new lab and office space in Abingdon Science Park, Oxfordshire.
  • 25 days of holiday, plus bank holidays.
  • Gym membership.
  • Private health insurance.
  • Ongoing learning and career development opportunities.
