The Assistant Accountant plays a key role in the day-to-day running of the finance function, supporting operations across the Aman Retail Brand. This is a fast-paced, hands-on role responsible for supporting financial processes across multiple legal entities. You will work closely with the Director of Finance and Finance Manager to help develop the finance function and drive efficiencies across existing processes.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and issue sales invoices across multiple entities, ensuring accurate billing and record-keeping.
- Manage accounts receivable, including credit control, debt collection, and clearing aged debtors.
- Support the operations team with invoice processing and customer account queries.
- Process accounts payable, including posting invoices, preparing payments, and resolving supplier queries.
- Maintain accurate records for advance payments and reconcile aged creditors.
- Perform daily banking tasks, including maintaining records and reconciling multi-currency bank accounts.
- Assist with reconciliations, including e-commerce orders to cash receipts.
- Support month-end close activities, including journals, intercompany reconciliations, reporting, and cash flow monitoring.
- Assist with VAT return preparation and year-end audit processes with external auditors.
- Support system implementation projects (including SAP) and contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and general office administration.
Requirements
- Proven experience in bookkeeping, general ledger management, month-end reporting, and VAT.
- Accounting qualification or currently studying towards ACCA (desirable).
- Experience working in a fast-paced, multi-entity finance environment.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines independently.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.
- Experience working with multi-currency transactions (essential).
- Proficiency in accounting systems such as Xero or SAP (preferred).
- Retail industry experience, including stock and import/export exposure (preferred).
- Intermediate to strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills (essential).
