Childrens Residential Support Worker in Colchester

About The Role

As a Residential Support Worker, you will support children and young people with their day-to-day needs in the home, helping to create a safe, nurturing, and positive environment. You will work with individuals who may present challenging behaviours, including those with Autism, ADHD and Global Developmental Disorder.

Key Responsibilities

• Support daily routines, including cooking, cleaning and personal care
• Promote a safe, structured and nurturing home environment
• Manage and respond to challenging behaviours calmly and professionally
• Establish and maintain positive, trusting relationships
• Set clear boundaries, expectations and structured timetables
• Support mental and physical wellbeing through meaningful and engaging activities
• Work collaboratively with social care and healthcare professionals
• Ensure the safety, wellbeing, and safeguarding of all young people at all times

Essential Requirements

• Full UK driving licence and access to your own car
• Full right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available)
• Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service
• Experience in one or more of the following:
  • Residential childcare
  • Family assessment work
  • Youth work
  • SEN support
• Strong communication skills and a calm, resilient approach
