We are seeking an experienced Datadog Architect to design, implement and optimise enterprise-scale observability and monitoring solutions. This role will play a key part in defining monitoring strategy, improving system visibility, and driving operational excellence across AWS-based cloud environments. The successful candidate will work closely with engineering, DevOps, SRE, and platform teams to ensure monitoring frameworks are scalable, secure and aligned with modern cloud-native best practices.
Required skills & qualifications:
- Strong commercial Datadog architecture and implementation experience
- Proven experience working within AWS cloud environments
- Ability to work in a hybrid role based in London
- Strong stakeholder engagement and technical leadership experience
- Experience designing and implementing enterprise observability strategies
- Deep expertise in Datadog (APM, Infrastructure Monitoring, Logs, RUM, Synthetic Monitoring, etc.)
- Strong experience working with AWS services (EC2, Lambda, ECS/EKS, CloudWatch, networking, etc.)
- Experience integrating Datadog with modern cloud-native and microservices architectures
- Strong scripting or automation experience (Python, Bash, or similar)
- Experience working with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar)
- Strong knowledge of CI/CD tooling and DevOps methodologies
- Experience implementing monitoring within containerised environments (Docker/Kubernetes desirable)
- Design and architect scalable Datadog monitoring and observability solutions
- Lead implementation and optimisation of Datadog across infrastructure, applications, and cloud services
- Develop monitoring standards, governance, and best practice frameworks
- Build dashboards, alerts, and performance monitoring solutions across AWS environments
- Work closely with DevOps, SRE, and engineering teams to improve system reliability and performance
- Provide technical leadership and guidance on monitoring strategy and tooling
- Support incident management and root cause analysis through advanced observability solutions
- Drive automation and integration of Datadog within CI/CD pipelines and cloud platforms
- Ensure security, compliance, and cost optimisation across monitoring platforms
- Experience working within highly regulated or enterprise-scale environments
- Exposure to SRE practices and reliability engineering frameworks
- Experience delivering monitoring strategy or platform transformation programmes
