Milk Education is looking for enthusiastic Young Minds Support Assistants to join welcoming primary schools across Durham, supporting children across EYFS, KS1 and KS2. With September recruitment underway, this is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable classroom experience, build your education career or secure a long-term role within a primary school.
The Role
As a Young Minds Support Assistant, you'll play an important part in helping children feel confident, supported and ready to learn. Working alongside teachers and school staff, you'll help create positive learning experiences, build strong relationships with pupils and provide encouragement when children need an extra helping hand. Every day will be different, with opportunities to support classroom learning, small-group activities, individual pupils and children's wider emotional and social development.
What We're Looking For
- Experienced in working with children or young people in any setting
- Caring, patient and approachable
- Creative, energetic and enthusiastic
- Confident building positive relationships
- Passionate about children's learning and development
- Reliable, adaptable and able to work as part of a team
- Available for at least 3 days per week (flexible)
Responsibilities may include:
- Supporting teachers with engaging lessons and classroom activities
- Working with individuals and small groups to support learning and progress
- Delivering creative, practical and interactive activities
- Encouraging children to participate, communicate and build confidence
- Supporting pupils with additional learning needs where required
- Promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
- Helping children develop independence and resilience
- Creating a safe, inclusive and welcoming classroom environment
- Building positive relationships with pupils and school staff
- Providing encouragement, reassurance and a positive role model
