Year 5/6 Class Teacher - Primary School - Nottingham

Milk Education are recruiting for a passionate, experienced, and dedicated Year 5/6 Class Teacher to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Nottingham on a long-term basis, starting in September 2026.

You’ll be joining a supportive school community that is committed to providing pupils with a high-quality education and preparing them for their next steps.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced KS2 Teacher who is confident teaching upper Key Stage 2 and passionate about helping pupils achieve their full potential.

The successful candidate will deliver engaging and challenging lessons, support pupils to make strong academic progress, and create a positive classroom environment where every child feels valued and motivated to succeed.

What You'll Be Doing in the Role

  • Teaching a Year 5 or Year 6 class
  • Planning and delivering engaging, challenging, and inclusive lessons
  • Following the Primary National Curriculum and preparing pupils for the next stage of their education
  • Supporting pupils with their academic, social, and emotional development
  • Differentiating lessons to meet the needs and abilities of all pupils
  • Monitoring, assessing, and tracking pupil progress
  • Using assessment information to inform future planning
  • Supporting pupils with SEND and adapting learning where required
  • Preparing pupils for SATs where appropriate
  • Promoting positive behaviour and maintaining high classroom standards
  • Building positive relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues
  • Working collaboratively with teaching assistants and the wider school team
  • Creating a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment
  • Ensuring safeguarding and child protection procedures are followed consistently

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Recent and relevant experience teaching within a primary school setting
  • Experience teaching upper KS2 is highly desirable
  • Strong knowledge of the Primary National Curriculum
  • Experience preparing pupils for SATs is desirable
  • Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills
  • Experience planning, delivering, and assessing high-quality lessons
  • A genuine passion for primary education and pupil development
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a supportive school team
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and inclusive practice
  • ECTs may be considered depending on experience and suitability
