We're currently recruiting for a Learning Support Assistant to join a Primary School in Newcastle on a long- or short-term basis starting in September.

Your main responsibilities will include

  • Helping deliver catch‑up sessions to close learning gaps
  • Support pupils' emotional wellbeing, behaviour, and social development by encouraging positive relationships and promoting independence.
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils, helping them access the curriculum and achieve their individual learning goals.
  • Adapt learning activities and resources to meet the diverse needs of pupils, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

Requirements or Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues.
  • Strong understanding of supporting children with diverse learning needs, including SEND, while adapting teaching strategies to promote inclusion.
  • Patient, empathetic, and resilient, with the ability to remain calm and provide consistent support in challenging situations.
