SEND & SEMH Support Staff - WF1-WF17

Milk Education is more than a supply partner - we're a community for educators. Join us for training, personal development opportunities and ongoing support.

We're currently recruiting for SEND & SEMH Support Staff across WF1-WF17, including Wakefield, Pontefract, Featherstone, Normanton and surrounding areas.

We're looking for people with experience supporting children and young people with SEND and/or SEMH needs.

Your experience could come from:

  • Primary or specialist school

  • SEND or SEMH setting

  • Residential or care setting

  • Youth work or support work role

  • Healthcare or similar environment

We have a wide range of Day-to-Day and Longer-Term supply opportunities, so we can look at roles that suit your experience, skills and preferences.

Whether your background is in 1:1 support, personal care, autism, SEMH, behaviour, physical needs, communication or general SEND support, we'd love to hear from you.

Your main responsibilities may include:

  • Providing 1:1 or small-group support for pupils with SEND and/or SEMH needs.

  • Helping pupils access learning and take part positively in school life.

  • Supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD, communication difficulties, learning difficulties, physical disabilities, sensory needs and SEMH.

  • Providing personal care where required, including toileting, feeding, changing and personal hygiene.

  • Supporting pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour and social development.

  • Helping pupils develop independence, confidence and life skills.

  • Supporting pupils with communication, sensory regulation and engagement.

  • Working alongside teachers, SENCOs and wider support teams to provide consistent care and support.

  • Promoting the safety, dignity and wellbeing of all pupils.

Requirements or Skills:

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND and/or SEMH needs is desirable.

  • Experience could come from education, care, residential support, healthcare, youth work or another relevant setting.

  • Experience in 1:1 support, personal care, Autism, SEMH, behaviour, physical disabilities, complex needs or communication difficulties would be beneficial.

  • A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant, SEND, Health & Social Care or relevant qualification is desirable but not essential.

  • A patient, caring and resilient approach, with the ability to build positive relationships with children.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • A genuine passion for supporting children and young people.

  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one) and the Right to Work in the UK.

Not every role will require the same experience. If you have strong experience in one particular area of SEND or SEMH, we'd still love to hear from you. We'll look at your individual experience and preferences to find opportunities that are the right fit.

Benefits:

  • Competitive rates of pay with temp-to-perm routes available.

    • Speedy registration process
