Milk Education is working in partnership with welcoming and supportive primary schools in Tadcaster to recruit a caring and enthusiastic Primary Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026.


This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with recent experience supporting children in education or care settings. The role is full-time, long-term, with the potential to become a permanent position for the right candidate.


As a Primary Teaching Assistant, you'll play a key role in supporting pupils both academically and emotionally, helping to remove barriers to learning while creating a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment where every child can flourish.


Key Responsibilities



  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils across the primary age range.

  • Support children with a variety of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Speech and Language needs, SEMH and other learning needs.

  • Work closely with the class teacher to deliver engaging lessons and classroom activities.

  • Adapt learning resources and activities to meet individual pupil needs.

  • Promote positive behaviour using consistent behaviour management strategies.

  • Encourage pupils' confidence, independence and emotional wellbeing.

  • Support classroom routines, interventions and wider school activities.

  • Previous experience working with children or young people.

  • A patient, caring and resilient approach.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families.

  • A genuine passion for helping children achieve their full potential.
