Are you a passionate and creative Drama & Arts Teacher looking for a rewarding opportunity within an SEMH specialist school in Stockport?
We are working with a specialist school supporting children and young people with moderate additional needs, including ASC, ADHD, and speech and language needs. The school is looking for an enthusiastic teacher who can use Drama, Arts and creative learning to engage pupils, build confidence and support their wider development.
The Role
As a Drama & Arts Teacher, you will plan and deliver engaging, creative lessons that are adapted to meet the individual needs of pupils.
You will use Drama, Performing Arts, Art and creative activities to encourage self-expression, communication, confidence and positive relationships, whilst creating a calm, structured and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging Drama, Arts and Performing Arts lessons

Adapt lessons to meet individual SEND and SEMH needs

Use creative activities to promote confidence, communication and self-expression

Create a positive, structured and inclusive classroom environment

Support pupils with ASC, ADHD and speech and language needs
-
Manage behaviour using positive and consistent strategies
-
Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
-
Encourage pupils to develop their confidence and resilience

Assess and monitor pupil progress
-
Work closely with teaching assistants and wider school staff

Contribute to the wider creative and school curriculum
About You
The ideal candidate will have:

QTS or a recognised teaching qualification
-
Experience teaching Drama, Performing Arts, Art or a related creative subject

Experience working with children or young people with SEND and/or SEMH needs
-
An understanding of ASC, ADHD and speech and language needs
-
Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
-
The ability to adapt lessons to individual pupil needs

Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

A creative, patient and nurturing approach
-
The ability to engage pupils through practical and creative learning
-
A genuine passion for supporting young people to reach their potential
