Behaviour Support Assistant
We are currently seeking a Behaviour Support Assistant to join a welcoming Primary School based in Stanley, Durham. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys supporting children, building positive relationships, and becoming a familiar and trusted face within a school that values consistency and stability.
This role would suit someone who is passionate about helping pupils thrive and enjoys creating a calm, positive and supportive learning environment.
Main Responsibilities:
- Monitor behaviour in the classroom and encourage positive conduct
- Support pupils in developing communication, independence and self-management skills
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support to learners where needed
- Encourage and motivate children to engage positively and consistently with their lessons
- Build positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Always maintain safeguarding and confidentiality, in line with school policies
Requirements & Skills:
- A positive attitude and genuine enthusiasm for supporting children's learning and development
- A patient, calm and consistent approach when supporting pupils
- A Level 2 or 3 qualification in childcare, education or a related field, or equivalent hands‑on experience (preferred)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Recent experience working in a school or education setting (preferred)
- The ability to build positive relationships and work effectively as part of a
