Primary Teaching Assistant - Spennymoor

Milk Education is working with a number of welcoming and supportive Primary Schools across Spennymoor and the surrounding areas and is looking to recruit caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated Primary Teaching Assistants to join schools from September 2026.

We have a range of long-term and full-time opportunities available, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

You’ll play a key role in supporting teachers and pupils across the Primary age range, helping deliver engaging learning, supporting pupil development and contributing to a positive classroom environment where every child can succeed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support teachers in delivering high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support where required.
  • Support pupils across EYFS, KS1 and KS2.
  • Assist with targeted interventions and learning activities.
  • Support pupils with their academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Help maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Promote positive behaviour and pupil engagement.
  • Encourage pupils to develop confidence and independence.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and the wider school team.
  • Support classroom organisation and preparation of learning resources.
  • Follow safeguarding and school policies at all times.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.
  • A relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience within a Primary School setting is advantageous.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organisation and teamwork skills.
  • Confident supporting learning on a one-to-one and small-group basis.
  • Patient, adaptable, and nurturing approach.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils.
