Young Minds Mentor

We're currently recruiting for a Young Minds Mentor to work within welcoming and supportive Primary Schools, starting in September.

Your Main Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils across EYFS, KS1 and KS2.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with children to support engagement and wellbeing.
  • Help pupils overcome social, emotional and behavioural barriers to learning.
  • Support children with SEND, including Autism, ADHD, Speech and Language needs and SEMH.
  • Deliver targeted interventions to support academic and personal development.
  • Promote confidence, resilience, independence and positive self-esteem.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENDCOs and pastoral teams.
  • Support positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies.
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.

Requirements

  • Degree obtained within the last five years or relevant experience supporting children and young people.
  • Professional employment references covering the last two years.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children and young people.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient, resilient and nurturing approach.
  • Experience working with children, young people or vulnerable individuals is desirable.
  • Understanding of SEND, SEMH, Autism or ADHD is advantageous.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
