SEND Teaching Assistant - Day-to-Day - Sheffield
Milk Education are currently recruiting for SEND Teaching Assistants to work across local schools in Sheffield on a day-to-day basis.
This is a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs and enjoys the variety of working in different school settings.
We're looking for flexible, patient and adaptable individuals who are confident supporting pupils with a range of SEND needs. You'll need to be comfortable travelling to different schools across Sheffield and available to work a minimum of 3 days per week.

About the Role:
As a day-to-day SEND Teaching Assistant, you'll have the opportunity to work across a variety of mainstream and specialist settings, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs.
Your dedicated consultant will discuss your experience, availability and preferences with you and aim to match you with suitable schools and placements. As this is a day-to-day role, flexibility and the ability to travel to different settings will be essential.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Supporting pupils with SEND on a one-to-one and small-group basis
- Helping pupils access learning and participate in classroom activities
- Supporting children with a range of additional needs, which may include autism, ADHD, SEMH, communication and interaction needs and complex learning needs
- Building positive, trusting and consistent relationships with pupils
- Supporting children's communication, social and emotional development
- Helping pupils develop confidence, independence and resilience
- Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour
- Adapting your approach to meet individual pupils' needs
- Following individual support plans and school procedures
- Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and other support staff
- Supporting pupils during lessons, break times, lunch and wider school activities
- Creating a safe, calm and inclusive environment
- Encouraging pupils to engage positively with their learning
- Communicating effectively with school staff regarding pupil progress and needs
Requirements or Skills:
- Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable
- Experience within education, SEND, care, support work or youth work is advantageous
- A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs
- Patient, compassionate and resilient
- Flexible and adaptable when working in different school environmentsConfident building positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- A proactive and positive approach to work
- Comfortable travelling to different schools and settings across Sheffield
- Available to work a minimum of 3 days per week
- Willingness to work across different year groups and school settings
- A willingness to learn and develop your SEND knowledge
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
- Willingness to complete the required safeguarding and compliance checks
