We are seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and caring Teaching Assistant (Level 2 or Level 3 qualified) to join our friendly and supportive primary school in Sheffield.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of our pupils by supporting high-quality teaching and learning in a nurturing environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with teachers to provide outstanding support for pupils across the primary age range, helping children to achieve their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support teaching and learning within the classroom.
  • Work with individual pupils and small groups to deliver targeted interventions.
  • Help create an inclusive learning environment where every child can succeed.
  • Assist with the preparation of learning resources and classroom organisation.
  • Support pupils with additional learning, behavioural, or emotional needs where required.
  • Promote positive behaviour and encourage pupil independence.
  • Supervise pupils during breaktimes, educational visits, and other school activities as required.
  • Contribute to the assessment and recording of pupil progress.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals to support pupil development.

Essential Requirements

  • A recognised Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
  • Experience of working with primary-aged children in an educational setting.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths or equivalent).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A positive, flexible, and proactive approach to supporting children's learning.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team while using initiative when appropriate.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Desirable

  • Experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Knowledge of phonics programmes and early reading strategies.
  • First Aid qualification (or willingness to undertake training).
  • Experience delivering intervention programmes in literacy or numeracy.
