You will support pupils with a range of SEND, helping them develop academically, socially and emotionally in a safe, nurturing and stimulating learning environment.

The successful candidate will be confident adapting teaching approaches to meet individual learning needs, creating engaging lessons and promoting positive behaviour, independence and pupil progress.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to pupils' individual learning needs and abilities.

  • Support pupils with a range of additional needs, potentially including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD).

  • Develop and implement appropriate learning strategies to support individual education plans and EHCP outcomes.

  • Create a safe, inclusive and supportive classroom environment where every pupil feels valued.

  • Use effective behaviour management strategies and positive reinforcement to encourage engagement and participation.

  • Monitor, assess and record pupil progress, adapting teaching methods to support individual development.

  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, SENCOs, parents, carers and other professionals.

  • Promote pupils' communication, social skills, emotional wellbeing and independence.

  • Follow school policies and statutory guidance relating to SEND, safeguarding and child protection.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification appropriate to the role.

  • Has experience teaching pupils with SEND, or a strong commitment to developing specialist SEND teaching skills.

  • Demonstrates a sound understanding of inclusive teaching practices and differentiated learning.

  • Has excellent classroom management and communication skills.

  • Is patient, empathetic, resilient and passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people.
