SEN Teaching Assistant - Barnet
Milk Education are working in partnership with an outstanding secondary school in Barnet to recruit a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their thriving inclusion team. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting young people with additional needs and helping them achieve both academically and personally.
The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will work closely with teachers, pastoral staff and the SEND department to provide tailored support for students with a range of needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH and learning difficulties. The school is recognised for its high expectations, inclusive ethos and commitment to ensuring every student has access to a high-quality education and personalised support.
The Role
- Supporting students with Special Educational Needs both in and out of the classroom
- Working as an SEN Teaching Assistant on a 1:1 and small-group basis
- Assisting students to access learning and achieve their individual targets
- Supporting the implementation of EHCPs and intervention programmes
- Promoting positive behaviour, engagement and independence
- Working closely with teaching staff to adapt resources and learning activities
- Providing emotional and social support where required
- Monitoring progress and maintaining accurate records
The Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Behaviour Mentor or Youth Worker
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEND, ASD, ADHD, SEMH or learning difficulties
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Patient, resilient and adaptable approach
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Genuine passion for supporting young people to succeed
